Black turmeric, also known as Curcuma caesia or black zedoary, is a plant species belonging to the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It is native to Northeast India and Southeast Asia. Unlike the commonly known yellow turmeric (Curcuma longa), black turmeric has a distinct dark blue or blackish color, which gives it its name.
